Our story

We both started as scientists and have PhDs in meteorology (Martin) and climatology (Pleun). In 2018, we decided to move to the private sector with jobs focusing on European renewable energy and worldwide climate risks.
Over the years, photography became more and more part of our lives. A trip to Madagascar in 2017 is where our passion for wildlife and nature photography truly began. For four weeks, we drove offroad in some very remote corners of Madagascar. We came in contact with different tribes, searched for endangered lemurs and experienced some really wild places for the first time.

Over the years, the thought of exploring the world on our own terms grew stronger, and in 2022 we made the decision. We bought a Land Rover Defender, completely remodeled it into an expedition vehicle that winter. We quit our jobs early 2023 and set off onto a trip with no specific end date in mind.

Since then we have traveled all over Europe, visited Antarctica in partnership, waited for winter to end by crossing into Morocco and worked with safari lodges in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Early 2024 we shipped our vehicle to Canada to drive the longest road in the world: the Pan-American.

The adventure is far from over as we're now in country #36: Ecuador, and will travel further South on our journey to Argentina!
