Our expedition camper is fully equipped to remain off-grid for as long as we like (or when the food runs out). We filter our drinking water from rivers, we have a solar setup that provides enough electricity for all our devices and a large fridge to keep our food fresh. From the rivers of Iceland, the Saharan desert of Morocco and on the slippery 4x4 roads in the Rocky Mountains, our car hasn't let us down a single time. And in the unfortunate case we would get stuck, we have all the gear to recover ourselves safely.
Aeolus
is named after the Greek god of winds. Just as the winds, Aeolus allows us to travel wherever and whenever we like, unrestricted by country borders and road conditions. The feeling of freedom and discovery where the road leads us.
Exterior
Aeolus is a Nara Bronze rough limited edition Defender from 2014, with a TD4 2.2 puma engine. In the winter of 2022/2023, we converted her into an expedition camper by installing an Alu-cab Icarus roof conversion, Alu-cab awning, WARN winch bumper, lazer spotlights, frontrunner light bar and a frontrunner roof rack to carry our extra baggage (like camping gear, extra water and diesel) and a 210W solar panel. We upgraded our suspension and stabilization bars, added a 35L water tank, and installed an extended 135L fuel tank. In the back, we have a small sink with access to 10L of drinking water.
Interior
As we carry a lot of camera equipment, we designed our build in such a way that our equipment can be stored securely while driving off-road. For instance, we have a place below our couch to store our tripods and bean bags, have some drawers for the electronics and we installed several charging points to always be ready to photograph and edit our videos and photos. Behind the driver’s seat, we have our 220Ah auxiliary batteries, ARB compressor, and 1000W inverter to charge our laptops.
Besides storage underneath the couch, we have ample of storage in our cabinets to store food and basic necessities. Also our large 55l Dometic fridge allows us to store lots of food so we’re able to get away from civilization for long periods of time. When experiencing stormy weather, we are able to extend our couch into a small but comfortable bed.
As we bought Aeolus at only 70.000 kilometers on the clock, we’re confident she will bring us to many adventures ahead!
